Solutions to COVID

COVID pandemic caused the whole world to find innovative methods to accomplish their day-to-day routines. While the medical sector was struggling to find a cure and to limit the spread, the technical community was also busy with providing feasible solutions. As an engineer who stayed at home with limited resources, I was able to propose few interesting solutions to help the healthcare workers during the COVID pandemic.

The remote patient monitoring platform uses a Raspberry pi to establish a video/audio communication with the patient remotely. The I/O pins of the Raspi allows to attach multiple sensors, actuators or indicators thus providing a flexible and customizable interface between the doctor and patient.

e.g. Rather than using a remotely installed phone or tablet to establish a video call (e.g. skype) with the patient, the Raspi allows to install a temperature measuring sensor so that the doctor can monitor the patient's body temperature remotely.

Most importantly, this platform supports mobile phones as well, which is very simple and user friendly.

OBOTIC is a overhead conveyor system which can be installed inside healthcare facilities with minimum cost. This was a conceptual project which won the second place in IMechE Sri Lanka design competition to fight against COVID-19. check:: Facebook

This was a group project to which I contributed with my designing knowledge.
